Partial House Rewires in Leeds
Not every property needs a full rewire. Where sections of the existing installation remain suitable, a partial rewire can replace the circuits or areas that need attention without unnecessarily rewiring the entire house.
What Is a Partial Rewire?
A partial rewire replaces part of an electrical installation. That might be one floor, a kitchen, a group of rooms, socket circuits, lighting circuits, an area being renovated or older circuits identified during inspection.
When Does It Make Sense?
- Part of the property has already been rewired
- Specific circuits need replacement
- Existing wiring is mixed in age or condition
- You are renovating one area of the house
- An extension is being added
- A full rewire would replace sound wiring unnecessarily
Full Rewire or Partial Rewire?
We will not recommend a partial rewire simply because it sounds cheaper, and we will not recommend a full rewire simply because it is a bigger job. The right solution depends on the condition of the existing installation and what you are trying to achieve. Inspection and testing may be required where this is unclear.
What Can Be Included?
New circuit cabling, sockets, switches, lighting wiring, consumer unit alterations, earthing or bonding work where necessary, smoke alarm alterations, integration with retained circuits, inspection, testing and the appropriate electrical certification.
An Important Point About Certification
A partial rewire does not mean the whole existing installation has been replaced or certified as new. The new electrical work is inspected, tested and certified as appropriate to the work carried out. Where the overall condition of the retained installation needs assessing, we may recommend further inspection and testing.
Making Good
If the work involves chasing walls or lifting flooring, Rewire Team can also arrange making good and plastering afterwards so the electrical and finishing work can be planned together.
